drummer girl

The cover for Greg's band (just finished it!). They have a show coming up September 7, 7:30pm at The Dripolator in Asheville.

video We went to a music store today and Azalea tried out the drum set, she could hardly tear herself away!
I'm working on a prize for another 'contest' of sorts. Its fun to get feedback. Plus, its useful. I'm wondering what folks would want in their garden (as far as cast stone statuary). I have my ideas, but I am curious what others would like. So leave me some suggestions, or your favorite sculptors and I will draw a winner. The prize is in progress, so when its done, I will post a pic. I will try to have it done tomorrow afternoon, but my brother is coming and we will probably get up to all sorts of crafting madness!

I like fairies in my garden. I'd like them to be sort of wild and woodsy looking, but haven't found any like that. Right now I seem to have a reading theme going on. I have a few fairies that are reading books and also a reading gnome.

I really love things that hold little bits of bird seed, or food for the creatures, or water. I love when garden art interacts with the natural world around it so directly.

As far as themes, I am looking at a lot of Mucha lately, and I love how he did series that have to do with nature: the elements, the seasons, times of the day...

I think your creatures and drawings will translate really well into garden art, and I can't wait to see what you do!

Garden art...I love organic shapes, like these...http://www.heartwoodarts.com/
and the idea of toad houses...
maybe some mysterious, mischievous creatures, peeking out from behind things...

I must agree with "*melanie* earthenwood studio"- I like interactive types of sculptures- especially things which hold water or are fountain-like! I really love Sitting Buddha statues, but I also love "Maneki Neko" (lucky waving cat).

In general, I must say- I would love to see little bird people. A cross-breed of sorts. Something hidden and magical. Something which would grow moss...

AHH! I bought this book about a year ago and I have been loving it for the photos and the great inspiration ever since:
"Shrines: Images of Italian Worship" by Frances Mayes (Introduction), Steven Rothfeld (Photographer)

Swoon...
(Thank you for such a lovely post by the way- I am THRILLED to read it- and so now... I want nothing more than to try Egg Tempera!)

OH! AND one last thing this afternoon- I LOVE seeing your sketches... I have for the last few years! I really can't get enough. I would BUY A BOOK of your sketches!!!

They are amazing.

In my Garden, I would love:
a Stone Easel with canvas set up
little trails of paint jars
open books
heart plaques for trees that don't harm them
As far as "creatures": hmm...animals frolicking around and not just the usual "winged animals" but a whole zoo menagerie would be fun!
And yeah, I ditto what Jane said-I'd buy a whole book of your sketches as well.
