secret projects

Hello! Here are some pieces I've been working on for my book proposal. I'm not sure if I should show samples (I suppose some folks would keep stuff secret for copyright purposes - or maybe for surprise, I don't really know) but I thought it would be nice to see what's coming soon and maybe get some feedback. The first project is a sculpting lesson for the owl, the moth is a project for an intricate chain. Anyway, let me know what you think, I always value the opinion of fellow bloggers!

fun times

Baby gettin big. I hope she stays small.

Sheila and Kitsune, or Sune for short.

The Chocolate Fetish, happiness in food form.
Hello! We had a nice time wandering around our lovely downtown, getting bento box lunches at Wasabi (a great Japanese restaurant) and truffles at The Chocolate Fetish -which has the best sweeties anywhere. We went back home and I worked on my book while everyone played with our pup and taught her tricks. My sister Sheila came home after a long trip to L.A. and has been enjoying Azalea's undivided attention and adoration. I guess its a nice change from mama. I was wondering why my girl loves my sis so much (after being told yet again that she wanted Sheila and only Sheila) I realized that as sisters we are complete opposites. Where she is all smiles, I'm grim, she is a minimalist and I'm a collector...her head is shaved and I can't remember my last haircut. We have lots in common though, like travel, I enjoy imagining it and she has been to more countries than I could name. We are both passionate about food and love to cook and eat and try new flavors. I'm pretty happy she's home and look forward to all the the fun.

sunshine

Strange bird at the Jacsonville zoo.

You know we had fun here.

Greg and Miss Belle at Jacksonville zoo

Sunshine in the mail from Jean Yates- she sent this awesome bracelet and earring set and got rave reviews from the crowd in Miami.
We just got home from the Interweave Miami show ( fun to shop and much bigger than I thought it would be). Although I like Miami, its beautiful, the folks are friendly and fried plantains are easy to find, I am glad to be home, relaxing. Before the show started we we ran around the city and visited the Playmobile store in West Palm Beach and spent a good, long time testing the toys. After the three day show we went to the Jacksonville Zoo to break up the long drive home; it was nice to walk through the gardens and look at the animals. Our trip to Florida was mostly pleasant (although getting locked out of my van and sitting in beach traffic for hours was not fun) it felt like an adventure, which is always good.

happy dolls

Cute doll from Happy to See You, a company out of France. I love these waldorf inspired dolls, they look well made and sturdy, plus only natural materials are used. I made one for Azalea a couple of years ago and found out why they are so pricey- they are harder to make than they appear. The site is in french, but has nice pictures of all their adorable clothes and dolls.

Today we organized my collection of beads, which is fun and usually leads to new jewelry. Tomorrow I will string! My dad left this morning after visiting for the weekend. We watched a lot of movies and tried to bond. I didn't work on any of my projects, so I was a little nutty. Greg just got home from doing a show in Philadelphia and I'm happy he's back. We have to leave for a show in Miami soon, so its back to work for me.
