My girl feeding two of the thousands of parakeets at the Atlanta Zoo. She loved doing this.

Andrew and Azalea posing in a huge bronze nest in the bird aviary.

Posing next to mama and baby gorilla statue.

Mama and baby posing with a giant ice cream cone at a gelato cafe.
It seems like we just got home from Atlanta (even though its been three days) and I'm just now returning to my daily rhythm. I'm beginning to feel the weight of baby two...tired, listless, heavy and hard to motivate. This is inconvenient, as I know I have tons to do before I give birth, then nothing gets done because I'll be busy staring at my freshborns face! So, in my haste, I've strung everything out, doll making tools, felting, sculpting, painting and more, my desk piled high with projects I'm hoping to finish. Oddly, not a lot is done. I have lots of almost finished pieces....now I'm wondering what's the best way to tackle the stuff without going crazy. I'm a list maker, so I've surrounded my area and loaded my sketchbook with countless lists of things to do. I took today to play designer and sketched in my book, attempting to relax my brain and find focus. This usually works for me, if I feel burnt out or unmotivated, but it is harder since I'm physically wore out. Maybe there's a special food or tea that will give me a burst of speed (since caffeine is out!).

what a wonderful trip... my kids always love the zoo... you are definitely at the most physically taxing part of pregnancy... remember, 'this too shall pass'! hope your ear infection has finally passed... love the nest - looks like a green girl creation exponentially enlarged! we have open dinosaur eggs sculptures near us that the kids love to climb into... you do have a lot going on... so just take one step/one thing at a time... women are master multi-taskers, but let's face it, you have a reason not to be at top speed! enjoy this time with your first baby - big changes are coming for her... i am sure she loves having you to herself...

Yep, I'm not at top speed! My feet and legs are swollen a bit and my hips feel weird. We are all really excited for little sprout! And Azalea will be starting kindergarten on the 16th! Is it possible? My girl is going to school! It will definitly be harder for me than her!

I recommend a prenatal massage. Brandon bought me a certificate for one, and it made so much difference. The therapist really concentrated on my feet and legs, and this morning was the first morning in about three months that I didn't wake up with leg cramps. I'm definitely feeling the baby weight at this point.

I love the photo of Azalea and Andrew in the nest! Sorry to hear you are feeling draggy. I don't have any energy enhancing suggestions, but I will say that the caffeine-free African Nectar tea from Mighty Leaf is wonderful - they are a bit pricey but the tea, loose or bagged, is all quite good.

it is hard when our babies make their big moves... but the universe works in wonderful ways and while she blossoms in a new way you will have some guilt free time with your new sprout... hard to believe that my baby is going to be a senior in high school - time is precious...

Eva- a message sounds wonderful! I wish I could find a therapist here! i miss the one I used to go to.

Melissa- I will look up that tea! I sometimes drink a cup of coffee, my midwife said 2 cups max, but it doesn't stick, so that tea sounds good!

Mairedodd- yes, you're right! I just love being around my girl! I'm glad the school we got her in encourages parental involvement in the classroom.

You might want to try some tea with ginseng in it - its a natural energy boost I believe and I find tea usually makes me feel better and more relaxed.

You also might find that sitting down and forcing yourself to finish something will help you relax a little - might be hard to get going but once in the middle of a project I find everything sort of slips away.

Take care!
Emi

Emi- I will try the tea, I'm sure that won't be hard to find! As for finishing a project...you're totally right, but it's hard to stay on target!

Gnomegarden- thanks! I like your blog too!
