I'm working on a prize for another 'contest' of sorts. Its fun to get feedback. Plus, its useful. I'm wondering what folks would want in their garden (as far as cast stone statuary). I have my ideas, but I am curious what others would like. So leave me some suggestions, or your favorite sculptors and I will draw a winner. The prize is in progress, so when its done, I will post a pic. I will try to have it done tomorrow afternoon, but my brother is coming and we will probably get up to all sorts of crafting madness!
I like fairies in my garden. I'd like them to be sort of wild and woodsy looking, but haven't found any like that. Right now I seem to have a reading theme going on. I have a few fairies that are reading books and also a reading gnome.
ReplyDeleteI really love things that hold little bits of bird seed, or food for the creatures, or water. I love when garden art interacts with the natural world around it so directly.
ReplyDeleteAs far as themes, I am looking at a lot of Mucha lately, and I love how he did series that have to do with nature: the elements, the seasons, times of the day...
I think your creatures and drawings will translate really well into garden art, and I can't wait to see what you do!

I must agree with "*melanie* earthenwood studio"- I like interactive types of sculptures- especially things which hold water or are fountain-like! I really love Sitting Buddha statues, but I also love "Maneki Neko" (lucky waving cat).

As far as "creatures": hmm...animals frolicking around and not just the usual "winged animals" but a whole zoo menagerie would be fun!
And yeah, I ditto what Jane said-I'd buy a whole book of your sketches as well.
